Where we started
Tallmadge Pole Barns is based in Tallmadge, the Summit County city settled in 1807 around the circle where eight roads still meet. We started here to build post-frame buildings for the farms, homes and businesses in the surrounding counties: barns and equipment sheds, garages and workshops, and commercial buildings.
Where we work now
Our service area runs from Lorain and Cleveland east to Youngstown and north to Erie, Pennsylvania. Working in two states means working with two permit systems. Ohio splits review between local zoning offices and certified city, county or state building departments, while Pennsylvania enforces its Uniform Construction Code through municipalities and third-party agencies. Our town pages spell out who reviews what in each community we serve.
Why being local matters
Zoning limits, building departments, frost depth and snow loads change from one town to the next, and a pole barn has to satisfy all of them. We research those rules for every town we serve and publish what we find in our town pages and planning guides, free to read whether or not you hire us.
Looking forward
Codes and zoning rules change over time. When a change affects how a pole barn is permitted or built in our area, we update the page that covers it, so the guides stay useful for the next project as well as this one.
